Authentic Caltagirone ceramic

Every bottle is made by hand by the Ripullo ceramics workshop in Caltagirone and comes with the certificate of guarantee of authentic ceramic hanging from its neck. Caltagirone is the capital of Sicilian ceramics: no two pieces are identical, and the small differences in line and colour are the signature of handwork.

When the oil is gone the bottle stays: it is an object to keep, not packaging to throw away.

The two faces

The Moor and the Moorish woman are not two bottles: they are the two sides of the same one. On one side the man, with beard and moustache; on the other the woman, with her earrings. It is the tradition of the Moor's heads on Sicilian balconies, tied to an old Palermo legend of love and betrayal: the tag hanging from the neck tells it in full.

Inside is our finest selection of extra virgin olive oil with Protected Geographical Indication Sicilia.

• Appearance: deep green
• Aroma: medium intensity, with floral notes of artichoke, freshly cut grass and fresh aromatic herbs
• Taste: intense, bitter with a lingering pungency

In the kitchen

Ideal on vegetable soups, marinated fish and broths. Excellent raw on beef carpaccio and as a dip with raw vegetables.
